First of all, for all of you who are just absolutely sick of all this wedding talk, you’ll be happy to know that after today all wedding related posts will be scheduled for Wednesdays in my new blog post series “Wedding Wednesdays.” Other than that, the rest of the week will return to discussions on every day life, love, and laughter!
Now on to the music!
Today I’m continuing last week’s theme of “Modern Wedding Songs” by sharing with you all two more of the songs Captain America and I played at our reception. Last Sunday I focused on our Processional, and our First Dance songs, so be sure to check them out if you haven’t already!
This week I’m highlighting some of the most important songs from our reception – our Father/Daughter dance song, and our Mother/Son dance song, (or the MotherBoy dance, as Captain America and I have taken to calling it since re-watching the original episodes of Arrested Development). In the end our joking was pretty fitting, as my mother-in-law actually surprised him with a seven minute dance to a medley of three different songs on the day-of! But I’ll spare you all and only play one of them ;)
The Father/Daughter Dance:
“Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world,
It’s hard to get by just upon a smile,
Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world,
I’ll always remember you like a child, girl…”
Wild World – Cat Stevens
Mother/Son (MotherBoy) Dance (Pt. One of Three):
“Godspeed, little man,
Sweet dreams, little man,
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings,
Godspeed – The Dixie Chicks
What songs did you and your partner choose for your Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dances? Did you go with something traditional, or something a little more modern? How did you choose your songs? Were they sentimental, or new favorites?
