“Life is Like a Box of Chocolates…

…you never know what you’re gonna get.” Forrest Gump

It may have been said too many times, but it’s true!

And sometimes you get really awesome chocolates like this box I was given for Christmas by a friend:

Merci Chocolate

An assortment of 7 delicious varieties straight from Europe – Milk Chocolate, Coffee and Cream, Hazelnut-Almond, Hazelnut-Creme, Dark Cream, Dark Mousse, and Praline-Creme.

Heaven in a box, if you will.

But some days you just get crap.  Or, in chocolate terms – you’re handed a bonbon filled with disgusting fruit flavoring and nuts.

A chocolate fruit-cake.

I am doing my best to respond with the whole love instead of anger thing I was talking about yesterday

But I think this is going to take another box of the good stuff.

  1. Yes… I find that a hypodermic syringe is useful in sampling all my chocolates first. That way you can separate the brandied peach preserve ones from the caramel ones.

And this is, in fact, a good metaphor and technique for life. Some people do seem to resist the hypodermic for some reason, but that’s the what the tranquillizer darts and net are for!

  2. Ah Merci… I have a love-hate relationship with it. When you get the bigger box, there’s one Marzipan-flavoured piece. Maybe it’s just me, but I absolutely hate Marzipan. It really spoils the box for me. =[

  3. Always have the good stuff around. ALWAYS. It is a rule. And, frankly, should be a law. Just say “NO” to bad chocolate, and similar people and situations.

Now and again, you just have to shrug your shoulders, say your harshest curse word (under your breath, of course) and let go. (And if you need to, write it and put it in your Year Jar!!)
