Today, the wonderful and inspiring Mimi over at Waiting for the Karma Truck honored me with the Booker Award!
If you don’t already know her, head on over to WaitingfortheKarmaTruck and get acquainted – I promise you won’t be disappointed.
This award is both fun and challenging. The task? Pick your five all-time-favorite books! At first, I clapped my hands together and thought, “Psh, this is simple! My favorite book is obviously…” and that’s where I found myself in trouble. I can only pick five, you say? It turns out, that’s not so simple at all…
As an avid reader, I have LOTS of favorites – favorite mysteries, favorite classics, favorite authors, favorites that are favorites not because of how well written they are but because they struck a chord inside me the first time I read them – if you’re a reader, you probably know what I mean. And if you’re not, well, you’re a liar, because you’re reading this post, aren’t you?? Now seriously, go pick up a book.
So, I very quickly had to abandon the notion of all-time-favorites, and instead I went for,
The 5 Books I Would Grab, If my House Were on Fire:
1. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
2. Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
3. The Little House on The Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
4. Nancy Drew and The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene
5. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
And now that I’ve typed it out, I feel the list is woefully incomplete – but what can ya do?
Besides find out what your all-time-favorite books are, of course! Here are my nominees:
